Default How often should I let the engine warm up during cold winter storage?

Hey all. I got a 2000 DFyna WG with an Evo engine. Got the blood changed on the bike (oils) and got it stored until Ol man Winter leaves NYC. I been warming up the engine by runnin it every three or four days for approx. ten minutes or so. I hope this is a good idea. Should I also WD40 the belt and tires to keep the wint4er temp from dryin it out? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

2000 FXDWG would have a TC88 motor, unless you are riding, don't start your motor, winterize and let it sit until Spring. Plenty of threads here on Winter Storage.

Yep, starting and letting it idle is worse for it than letting it sit.

Better to not run it at all. Moisture will build up if you are running it for short periods of time.

Put it to bed and leave it alone. Just starting it up for the sake of running it,doesn't do it any good. Put a trickle charger on the battery, cover it with a breatheable cover and wake her up in the spring. Back off the WD40 too, your rubber won't deteriorate. Just how long are winters where you are?

Yup, leave it. You're just watering down your oil with condensation - bad. No WD-40 either, it'll dry out and crack your rubber.

Wait until the snow, ice, and salt are off the roads. Bundle up, and take it for an hour ride.
