Default Quick Oil Change Question...Please Bear with me!

Raining out with no let up in sight. Can you just idle the engine 4-5 minutes til it gets to operating temp, than change the crankcase oil? It's just a little past due, and I can't just sit here and watch the junk on t.v.! If not I'll just wait til tomorrow evening and run it 5 0r 10 miles if the weather lets up, or just suit up for the ride. Hate to get the dang thing all muddy if I don't have to. Thanks for the help! Frederick

Personally I wouldn't worry about warming up the bike. You're leaving several ounces in it anyway. If you do heat it up be careful around those hot pipes. They leave permanent tatoos.

Thanks all. I was just wondering if its more beneficial to get the contaminates suspended in the hot oil so you can drain most of them out. I would guess that they collect at the bottom of the pan anyway hot or cold.

I usually warm mine up before draining the oil. And take out the dipstick when its draining. It seems to get a little more oil out of it by letting air through. JMO

Gas may not be a geat flushing agent. I would think that the fumes could possibly be explosive especially when it is first started after replentishing oil.

a 50 50 mix and you wouldn't start the bike...its just to flush the oil tank

Sea foam is safe & you can run 1 oz per gallon of oil to flush your whole motor. it re liquifies dried up deposits so they can be trapped by your filter.
if you just want to rinse your tank, I would use diesel or kero.

A little Kerosene is way better than gas
