No doubt the ideal way to go. If you want to really go all out check out the Rogue scavenger system. Gets all the old oil out. I considered it once but felt like the price was way out of line.

I changed mine wednesday. I drove it about 5 miles and when I drained it the oil still wasnt warm. I figured I would get burned when pulling the plug but it was barely luke warm.

I change mine cold. Open the drain plug pull the dip stick. The oil in the filter does not run out as fast as its cold I use a piece of card board to let the oil from the filter into the drain pan. Do you guys think the Service Dept changes the oil on a warmed up Bike I don't Think So.

You are not just looking to suspend contaminents.
You are also running the motor to clear the sump. Some oil works it's way down there while parked.

Best is fully warm motor, but your thoughts of running it 4 - 5 minutes due to rain are fine.

5 mins isn't enough to fully warm the motor and oil, i'd run it longer, if your neighbors don't complain.

I use the oil temp to tell when shes warmed up... takes 10-15 mins or so to get the oil near 200. and thats in a heated garage near 60 to begin with..I prefer to ride a few miles.

4-5 mins will get the pipes really hot but may not get the oil good and warm.... be careful on those hot pipes, they smart...

Yep, that is what I use every now and then to flush the oil tank on my Ironhead.

The reason I asked about seafoam is I have a case of 24 tins in my garage that the previous owner left behind. I need to find a use
