I have been in the area several times. There is so much beautiful scenery, your eyes will hurt trying to take it all in. I love the area around Durango, Silverton, and Ouray. Make sure your brakes are in good working order, and an XR1200 would come in handy.

Watch out for the cagers all along the I-25 corridor (from Pueblo to Ft. Collins). We live about 250 miles from the Springs, and spend a lot of time there. If I ride the area, I stay off of the interstate.
As far as indys....there are a lot of good shops out there, in fact I haven't found any that I didn't like. I know that 15 years ago, I was warned to stay away from a couple that are now out of business....so that is a moot point.
Enjoy Colorado....lots of good riding, and when it gets cold....just go south into New Mexico. Be careful of the weather in all seasons, as it changes rapidly.

Thanks guys. I haved PM Chaz but I think he is playing in the white stuff. I may only get a few months there before pushing out to one of the sandboxes but I will try to use those few months wisely. When I get back is when all the fun and new mods will start.

You will like it here, once you get use to the altitude, we are at 6000 feet. As far as riding, we have 24 west into the mountains and 115 south to Canon City. During the weekends in the summer, 24 gets backed up with everyone trying to get to the mountains or the casinos, but you can bypass part of the traffic by going through Old Colorado City.

I'm sure I can't give you any new info as that was my last post before they shipped me off to Nam in 67.
Thanks for your service, and stay safe over in the sand.
Respects,
Ed

You will enjoy Colorado, I've lived here almost 25 years and love the climate and the great riding. I've not heard a lot about the dealer in the Springs good or bad. Even though I live in a northwestern suburb near Boulder I bought my last new bike from Thunder Mountain in Loveland...no complaints about sales or service.
