No substitute for cubic inches!

My 95 inch Wide Glide is no doubt the quickest Harley I've ever owned, and I'd owned a bunch of them over the past 40 years.
The picture below tells of the major modifications that have been performed.
Could have gone more 'radical', but I wanted to keep it low maintenance, totally dependable, and be able to run regular 92 octane fuel that is available almost everywhere.
Not hard to build a Harley that puts out over 95 horsepower and over 100 pounds of torque to the rear wheel (while remaining completely reliable). Just a matter of doing your homework and matching the engine components.

Well, I like my Harley stock. My XL1200C is quick enough for what it is. Given the suspension and braking that it comes with, the power is about right.
I wouldn't do any serious power upgrades without upgrading the suspension and braking.
But I just bought a Monster, which has a smaller displacement than my Harley and about 40% more power, with the suspension and braking to handle it. (Apparently there is a replacement for displacement.)

I know my husband is pretty happy with his 120" in his 06 Ultra. He had this done when he first bought the bike. He said it was big $$ but worth it.
He just had it tuned by Jarz Performance here locally a couple months ago. He says he is even happier now

I've wondered about this subject for a while....
You've got some motor heads that will build up their Lawn mower...
So far 24 answers out of over 100k members... I know lots more have done 95's on there 88 and a lot of 103's on the 96's. but most of those seem to be the ones later having problems..!!!!!
Thats one reason I didn't do the head and BB kit... just the bolt-ins... I wont keep up whith the ones that do all that. But I didn't intend to.
I mostly wanted to get the Flucking EPA cam out of her.... and let her breath better and picked up bout 20% more TQ in doing it without opening the checkbook, just cash on hand covered it....
I don't mean to and am not throwing stones... I was the same way back in the 60's and 70's on my SS chevy's and GTO's... I want a good looking, good running, but it don't have to be the bada$$est in town........dependable machine....

If you could receive your investment back at sale time, I would do a big bore kit with cams. But that not being the case, I 'll stick with the fire breathing stock motor that can exceed any posted speed limit in this country.,,

Had the big bore kit and cams install due to a lot of two up riding, the original displacement was adequate but now the bike steps out with authority in traffic.

Went 103 with heads, cams and carb on mine...TORQUE is what the HD makes better than ANY other bike...I've got 100ft lbs at 2200rpm and that's fun...I've ridden an Aprillia Tuono, BWM R1200RT and a Honda CBR1000R, all in the last year and I still enjoy my 103 the best on the highway...stock HD's are dogs, I'm afraid. Reliability and longevity? I've only got a 6 month season at best up here and my 103 just finished season 3 without a hitch. Bigger motors also tend to get ridden more aggressivly...if you want mental and mechanical peace of mind, then leave it alone and be happy...if you want to build it up you better know as much as the guys your handing the money over to if you're not doing it your self, or they'll skin you.....
