Default 2007 softail custom

why did they make a bike that is supposed to lok like a chopper, yet the rake is only 32*? Heck, the Wide Glide has more rake at 34*. If they really tried a little harder they coould have made a nice bike a lot cheaper than the other custom bike out there. I woul have liked to see a softail with about a 36-38* rate as well as some stretch on the frame.

There was an opportunity for the MoCo to make a HD "chopper" wannabe and I always thought the softail standard was the logical choice. What they came up with in the softail custom is lame. This is less of a "chopper" than the WG with a 34 degree rake. I always felt there was a market for a softail frame, a > 34 degree rake, and a > 200 rear tire. Another missed opportunity IMHO.

I was excited when I read the article then I saw the photos.

Yeah I don't get the Custom at all. As I posted ealier the seat looks like the Seats they have on Kawasaki from the 80's. And that is a bad thing. Also the two tone paint schemes scream 80's jap bike as well. They should have kept the Springer..Much cooler bike.

I can't see why anyone would choose this over a deuce.

It looks like all they did was take a softail standarda and put ablack engine and apes on it. one sorry excuse for a "chopper"

That looks like a throwback to the 80s 'pillow choppers'. No radical rake, just a big seat and sissy. That thrug-ified VRod is possibly the best chg in the lineup, minus the tech chgs

the last softail custom offered was in model-year 1999...and as a matter of fact, it was different than this new version...

first, they had buckhorn bars on pullback risers

second, they had a two piece seat with a separate sissybar and not this ugly "king and queen" seat which honestly, every time I look at it I wonder if they got insipiration in some kawasaki photo.

The Evolution powered Softail Custom IMO was a much cooler bike than this new version
