Default Cleaning/ReBlackening Engine Fins

I am sure this topic has been covered, just don't know how to search for it. I have some greying on my black engine fins which I hope is just chrome polish caught in that porous surface. I have picked up a can of Engine Brite but I'd like to CLEAN the black first and if it isn't sharp, I'd even like to re-blacken it if it needs it. May I have your suggestions? As usual thanks for your advice and assistance, Ed

I use S100 Engine Brightener, works like a champ!
Even has a spray nozzle that is pretty good at pinpoint accuracy!

Sacrifice your toothbrush and go to work on it first!

Oh no! [sm=signs006.gif] Can't do that. I wouldn't be able to get within 10 feet of the wife after a day or so. [:'(] Naaa, just kiding. Give it a good scubbing then spritz it wit the S100 brightner. Works wonders. [sm=smiley20.gif]

Sorry I wasn't clear. I HAVE the S-100 but would like to try to remove the wax BEFORE brightening it with the S-100. Would a solvent like naptha be best or a detergent? Thanks again, Ed

Ohhh the wax deal huh, just wash it down with S100 total cleaner, that should do it.
Or are you trying to avoid the wash deal?
Maybe try say like a pipe cleaner thing and some sort of mild detergent cleaner.

Or you could try some of those Armor All cleaner wipes.
