Default Advice for Harley tour

It's always been a dream of mine to ride a Harley in America around the Grand Canyon, hoover Dam etc including small parts of Route 66 as I only have just over a week to spare for a vacation from the UK.

I have been in touch with a tour operator call EagleRider operating out of Vegas or LA. Ideally I would like a guided tour so I can sit back and enjoy the trip and not worry about where I'm going.......any advice? Are there other tour operators that you would recommend?

Many thanks......Doug

if you can read a map (or GPS) you don't need a tour guide, figure out what you want to see and you can use the Harley home page trip planner and go for it.

You should post this in Road Trips section. Lots already out there and lots of great suggestions too. I'd hit the places you mention, plus hit southern Utah.

I would at least consider planning your own ride and renting a bike. You have plenty of time to plan your route and what you want to see. I'd avoid mid-Summer because of heat. For specific suggestions post over on the "Road Trips". Starting from Las Vegas, were it me, I'd include as much southern Utah as time allows. That's a fun and very scenic area to ride and you will have no problem enjoying yourself.
As far as the tour companies I can't offer any advice but I imagine some here have used them. You may find other riders from England than have done this and could actually provide tour group advice. Regardless you'll have a great time!

You're gonna fly over here from England and only stay 1 week? If I were planning a trip like this I would do everything I could to try and extend it to 2 weeks.

Say hello to the Queen for me.

Advice, do it, take 2 weeks, don't use a tour guide, and enjoy.

The only advise I have is to avoid July and August. That is "monsoon season" here in the Southwest. We get thunderstorms that can ruin your day, mostly in the afternoons. I looked at the the Eagle Rider site and they have some pretty good rides, some starting in LA and some in Vegas. I can understand why you might want a guided ride and it's alway a good way to see the sights and meet some folks. You will find that the Soutwest has a lot of friendly and helpfull people that are willing to give you pointers on the best places for meals and what local sights to see. Maybe we'll see you out there, have fun.

Grand Canyon Harley-Davidson in Belmont AZ rents bikes also and they are only about a 30 minute ride from the Canyon.
