We went with some friend's, rode all the way from Calgary and did a big loop. 5000 mile's to be exact. We missed out on some of the ride's in the hill's and i,d like to go again but get there sooner.

Plan on going 2010, and hope to be able to find a place to throw a sleeping bag down somewhere? That may be too optimistic. For those that have gone, I'd like to go either the week before, or the week after. Is one better than the other?

I will be going again in 2010. Camped at Lamphere and had a great time. Going to make a bigger loop on the way next year and only spend a couple days in Sturgis. Not the party all night type so its better for me that way.

We've been 3 times since I started riding in 2000. In fact I got my licence in May and by that August I rode that 883 Hugger from the west coast of Canada to Sturgis and then home.
Done it twice since then on bigger bikes. Planning on going again in 10.
Highly recommend it

I've gone every year since I have retired in 02. I camp at the Elkview campgrounds which is a clean and quiet place. It is large so no reservations are needed for tent spaces. One major activity for me is to do the HD test rides in Rapid City. I spend a day riding as many models as I can.
I have purchased the last two bikes because of the test rides.
I have done most of the rides in the area but I always find something new.
The crowds are not a problem. I have always found a free parking place every time that I went down town.
I will go until I am unable to ride anymore.
Here is my ride for this year. 2010 Ultra Classic.

First time was in 1970. Been there at least 20 times since. Best times were when you were allowed in city park until they closed it up. Got too wild. The bus top beauty contest was about the best show! It would get ya thrown in jail now. Quit going over 10 years ago. It just ain't the same (well neither am I ).

Last time I went was in 1983. From what I've read and seen over the years, it is bigger. Not really better. Totally different vibe in today's modern world. I'll not go again and spoil some really great memories with expectations that it was anywhere close to what it was.
