Amsoil 20/50.

I think I may fouled my plugs. I gave the throttle a couple of twists this morning....

Old School Indy shop owner/bike builder just told me how he sometimes pulls plugs out and uses a lighter to heat them up when it gets really cold.

Anybody ever hear of that??

If you're riding in real winter weather 20w-50 is a bit thick. It isn't gonna be you're problem, but it ain't helping matters any. Manual says 10w-40 in the 40" and below. So unless you get some real Indian Summer type of weather, that might help.

Since the Harley engine is a dry sump, the crankshaft isn't spinning in a pool of oil. I think the 10w40 requirements is probably more for the bike to come up to temp. quicker. On my 02 carb below 40*, it's full enrichner and a couple of rolls on the throttle to get some gas in the carb throat. Bike will start in about 2 seconds. I let the heads get warm to the touch then I'm on the road. The enrichner **** is something one has to learn to control. Starting carb bike in frigid temps is a science.

So you think your bike will run tomorrow morning so you can ride with Joey?

Welp, think I found my problem(and feel like such an ***). It's the freakin' battery. I just bought a brand new HD battery last weekend. Ran the bike once for a good 35-40 mins since. Thought it couldn't have possibly been the battery. It started to crank a little better when I got home, but wouldn't fully turn over. Wasted a bit of juice, and it just kept getting worse.

Hooked it up to a car battery, and the mother fired RIGHT up. Needless to say, I'm got my bike parked where it probably shouldn't be, plugged into a tender, and am waiting anxiously for my neighbor lady(whose friend parked in my spot a month ago, if anyone remembers the thread- heehee) to get home so I can politely ask if she'd switch spots with me indefinitely so I can park closer to my external power outlet. Our parking is so screwed up, that it would be in her interest to switch- she'd be closer to her own unit.

ALL THAT SAID- crossing my fingers she turns over in the morning. Try and freeze my butt off again.
