I use them even here in sunny SoCal. Make sure you get the correct size though. If you have a difficult time zipping them or buttoning them, you've probably got the wrong size. It's not a one size fits all type of thing. If the legs flap a lot in the wind, you've got the wrong size.

I wear my even in the summer to protect from rocks and stuff.

 

My wife in her chaps on the Ronald McDonald benefit ride - over 1000 bikes, raised $118,000. Guess it was the chaps that did it!

 

Rode into work this morning. Temp was a balmy 26 degrees. Long johns, jeans and lined chaps kept things tolerable for me. Of course I also have a Gerbings jacket liner under my leather jacket and Gerbings T-5 gloves. I wear chaps year round to protect against road debris and road rash! Screw the "fashion" police!

 

"Strap on" the chaps... Set the IPOD up with "YMCA" and "It's Raining Men" and ride on!!

All kidding aside, when it's below 60ish degrees I'm wearing my chaps. This Sunday is our local Toys For Tots run and the morning low is forecast to be in the upper 20s. I'm sure there will be a lot of chaps wearing bikers out.

Chaps are great down to about 50 degrees. Below that, it's time for the overpants.
