Most newer bikes have a milliamp draw from the ECM, radio, regulator and security system. A float type charger like a Battery Tender will prevent battery drain.

Hopefully, this issue will be cured in the next couple months. I put the townhome up for sale, so we can get into a single family. My decision was influenced heavily by just the desire to have a house for my "baby". The wife and kid too, I guess......
That's when it ALL went wrong. YOU ASKED! Hey maybe it's not too late. Bring it in put some lights on it and call it a Christmas decoration. Just a thought.

I use mine all year long. When it is parked it is plugged in, won't hurt and always ready to go.

They are not the same. Battery tender floats the charge and does not over charge as a trickle charger will eventually do. Trickle charger is always charging whereas a battery tender gets it up to about 14 volts or so then stops charging until at's at 12 something volts. Not sure about exect numbers, but you get the idea.

i would leave my bike out in the snow before i would use a cover, especially outside. dust gets under the cover and then the wind blows the cover around on the paint, rubbing the dust around in the process

Definitely go with the tender. And loose the blanket under the bike cover. Moisture can build up and cause condensation + rust. Put some Stabil in the gas tank, ride for awhile to make sure it's down in the system, and then you can store for a while. Make sure the gas tank is absolutely full to the brim. Any air in the tank can also cause condensation, and therefore rust and crap in your tank injection/carbs etc...

I'll lose the cover(thought it would help start easier- it hasn't .

I'm not storing. I'm trying to ride straight on through. With a little help from my friend.....named Mr Gerbing

It's a 91, plenty of imperfections in the paint already. Not worried about the cover.
