Default why the Heck is bike GPS so EXPENSIVE?!!!

I really need a gps, cause my sense of direction sucks and I can't be squinting at signs off the side of the road in the dark covered by a tree that doesnt exist facing the wrong way. The only motorcycle specific options to solve this are...

A. Garmin Zumo 550 = $500

B. TomTom Rider 2 = $360

option B is a TOTAL piece of crap. It got the worst bunch of reviews I have ever read of any product... and I read alot of review, lol.

the zumo is just so much money compared to a regular car gps which is like 50-100 bucks. I'm looking for a motorcycle specific gps because I need it to be waterproof, be visible in daylight, have a good motorcycle supported mount, charging system, and bluetooth so I can get directions via bluetooth headset in my helmet.

So has anyone found a good deal on the Garmin Zumo 550??? Since that is our only option...

Cuz they found out that Harley owners are just posers that want to tell you how much they got in their bikes rather than how hard they worked on it...

Its because Harley stuff is exactly like Boat stuff... If it says Marine on it, expect to pay twice as much as its worth...

No different than with Harley :-)

No, that's YOUR only option, since you seem to "need" all the options it has. Better cough up and buy it. As for me I just bought the little Garmin Nuvi 205. Good little GPS. Not waterproof, but that can be remedied in any number of ways. I just mounted it with the optional bicycle mount and it works like a charm. It doesn't have bluetooth either, but I just mute the audio and follow the visuals. That works fine for me, too. Got me to Tokyo and back without a glitch. If you can navigate Tokyo with a little $150 portable GPS you can navigate just about any other city on the planet with it, too. And I can. All I need is a litte micro SD card for any other country I want to get around in.

Either lower your standards to fit your budget or expand your budget.

because the courser is a motorcycle and it takes a lot of technology to be able to do that

Hoggy got the right idea. I was thinking of doing that with the nuvi or w/e. I do like the idea of bluetooth, gives me the option of not having to look down at all. Not a necessity thou.

I do have pretty high standards, wish I diddnt sometimes thou. oh well. Zumo 550 it is.

It's simple, Supply vs. Demand.

You answered your own question. Waterproof, Bluetooth, ruggedized, etc.
they all cost $$$, Garmin is really the only player in the game with everything covered and optimized for motorcycles, so they charge a premium.
I did the Nuvi thing too, since I had one for the car anyway. $30. for a Ram mount, plus a big box of zip-lock bags and a bunch of elastic bands for when it rains...instant waterproofing. Or, good enough to get me home in a rainstorm.
The Nuvi is just great, and you can replace it three times for the price of one Zumo

Economies of scale. Garmin can sell millions of car GPS's but bike GPS are much lower demand. Plus the Zumo is waterproof, left hand controls and glove friendly touch screen.

$500 for a Zumo 550 is a pretty good price... where did u see that? Lowest I found was $550 online.
