A Eulogy... Ernest Cerini HD, est 1920 closed 2009

Actually it's not so much a sign of the time but more of a manifestation of the incompetence of Eric Cerini. I once heard Eric tell a story about how he went and got a "real job" for 17 years before returning to the family business. That greedy bastard left the family business only to return when H-D turned into a cash cow. You couldn't help but make a fortune in the H-D business in the late 80's/early 90's, and it was only then that that douche decided to leave his "real job" to come back and reap the rewards of the family business. The news of this closure comes as no surprise. He makes terrible business decisions and then blames those around him for his own failures. Even as he fails now as General Manager running ***'s Harley-Davidson in Rock Hill, South Carolina, he continues to make excuses and blame others for his poor decisions. That sorry excuse for a dealership will be closed soon as well. I sincerely hope that guy feels bitter and angry and like the failure that he is over ruining his family business of 90 years. However, I suspect that his arrogance probably doesn't allow him to think like that. I'm sure in his mind it was all someone else's fault. In closing, I would just like to say to Eric ... if you ever read this...HA HA HA!

ShovelheadBod: I am trying to reach you. I have come across an old picture of Mr. Cerini with about 5 other people standing in front of a building with bikes. I purchased this picture at a flea market. I did not know him but by the eulogy you wrote he was dear to you. I would like to get this picture to you.

Kinda like all the mom and pop hardware stores that were around until ACE, Home Depot, and Lowes ran them all out of business and how Walmart has done in all the 5 and dime stores. Sad. Another era lost to progress.

Well I'm confused. I'm sitting here wondering why such a successful sounding establishment is closing for good, and then this. What's the real story here?
BTW, that was a great read. I'm sorry for all those who are losing their jobs caught up in this whole thing. Is this part of hope and change???

I know this dealership. There was an offer by Triple S Harley in Morgantown to buy them out so they would stay open, but the Cerini guys kept dragging their feet on the deal. There were some other details muddying up the deal, so the Triple S guys walked away.
