paint with metalflake
#11
You're talking bass boat sized flakes when you get into application with something other than a gun. Not something to try your first time out. You can get some pretty good sized metallics, or, you can go with a custom paint with some type of flake or crystals - Planet Color (by Sherwin-Williams) or House of Kolor offer some kick *** choices.

Top feed (gravity feed) are the new tec stuff the bottom cans are old school. They use a siphion technic . Stick w/ the top feed harbor freight has decent guns for cheap. I'd be pretty leary about shootin flake through a normal gun. Hit up 97fxstb he's got the know how.

I did the paint on oldeschool1983's bike. It was done in very heavy flake. Both blue and red were done by using a base color that is close to the flake color. Then, I mixed the .025 flake with clear base. I have found that is the best way to shoot the heavy flake. They have dry guns, but I wasn't gonna spend that kind of money for one job.I also used a cleaned up primer gun to shoot it with. Be prepared to shoot many coats of clear over the flake. As it tends to be very course until the last two coats. Hope that helps.
One thing I might add. Keep shaking the gun you are using every chance you get. It helps keep the flakes suspended in the base.
