Default Armor leather coat...anyone wear them?

since my accident I have begun thinking about "armored" gear.

does anyone here wear it?
I chipped a vertebrae in the crash...dont expect it to be a problem thank goodness but if i woulda had an armored jacket i probably woulda escaped that .....and general soreness due to the tumble.

I have found a bunch out of coats out there but a lot of the purchasers , per there own admission, say they remove the armor plates.

ideas? recommendations?

I have the armor in my mesh/cordura jackets/pants and except for the knee armor in my pants I don't even notice it. That's when I wear it which isn't often.

Although I know one of it's purposes is to protect against impact, I see it more as protection against having bones and cartilage ground off during a slide. From what I've read ballistic mesh/cordura isn't as good as leather in protecting from slides so I think it's good to have the armor in the critical areas at least like hips, knees, back, shoulders and elbows.

I don't feel the armor is as necessary in my leather coats but I can see where back armor could've helped out in your case.

Two of my jackets have armor in them. The first one I wasn't expecting it to have armor and was going to remove it. I rode with the armor in place, to see what it felt like and it didn't bother me, so I just left it in.

I have armor in my riding jackets that I use all the time. Also have armored overpants that I use when touring or during inclement weather.

I have armor in my mesh jacket for spring and summer, and I wear it all the time. In cold weather, I have a heavy leather jacket from River Road.

Fox Creek. Read their crash testimonials. They are quite impressive. Two of their coats, as far as I know, take armour plates which, you can also buy from them, in the shoulders, elbows and back.

i bought a mesh summer/fall jacket with armor because i decided to drop off both my leather jackets off at the taylor shop (broke zipper, ripped pocket in the other one). The the weather decided to be nice and my sis came to town (she rides) . I actually like it and its warmer than I thought when you zip up the rain liner and the outer layer (3 layers) . Also the armor makes me look more big than fat. lol
