Helping out a biker
#51
I carry tools, and I always stop. I can't tell you how many times I've stopped, and not just for Harleys. There's been plenty of foreign bikes, and ratty old cars/trucks that need help too. They all seem pretty appreciative.

The signal for assistance on a bike is to put your helmet on the ground behind the rear tire although non bikers may not recognize this. An upside down bike in the ditch with a rider lying nearby with tire tracks over their body can also indicate the need for assistance

A 'universal signal' used around the country for many years by those in the biker community is;
"Thumb Up" means you are fine and don't need any assistance, "Thumb Down" means you have problems and could use assistance...

I always see these posts but honestly when I pull over to use the phone, check the GPS, stretch my legs every bike on the road checks on me, guess it's only fair because I always at least slow down till I get the OK sign from stationary bikes I pass.
