Depends on what it is, how much it costs and where *you* live. Once you provide all that information, I doubt anyone here would know the answer.
(But, I'll try to help you find out)

Hey farmer hello, much better this time.
Now I understand what U asking.
Only thing is I really don't know....
I've only been to Canada one time and I never had to claim anything. So I have no idea what the charge is...
I know from co-workers that we are only allowed to bring a certain number of fish back to the States when we come across.. At least I've been told that....

If you are in Canada you will get a bill from the government for GST tax of 5% plus a fee to prepare the bill, I recently got two packages worth about $300.00 each and got a bill for $15.00 tax and about $15.00 fee for each package, if your in a province with PST tax I imagine you will have to pay that as well (and probably a fee to prepare that bill).
Note also that the tax bill has to be paid in cash or they won't give you the package.

It really depends on how the item is shipped. USPS, you shouldn't get hit with any extra fees unless it's a particularly large item. If it's with UPS or FedEx, be prepared to bend over.

You can contact the local Canadian Border Services Agency office and they can tell you exactly what duty and taxes you would pay on specific items. Some things fall under the NATFA agreement and are tax and duty free, others are not. There is also a minimum and maximum pricing threshold that have an effect on that number. It can get quite complicated, so the best answer you can get is from them. Their closest office to you would probably be at Trudeau airport, or Mirabel. both are 24 hour offices, the telephone operator should be able to give you the numbers
