I let the engine run for a few minutes before I take it out. Gets the fluids up to temp. Do the same with all my cars. I think it makes a difference. ALso, my 87 XL doesn't like throttle when it's cold.

Leave it off until you gear up. A motor warms up much better by riding conservatively for a few minutes than it does by sitting and idling for 5 or 10 minutes. Gear up, get on, fire it up, ride.

Just start it and let it warm up!!!! On the stand, upright, does not matter. Geez. It's a motorcycle not your first born. But are you putting the special engine heater on first? This way the oil is already at operating temperature when you start it up, so as to acheive optimum lubrication immediately. Better yet, take the spark plugs out and crank it for a while to get good oil pressure.

Well, on my 09 Ultra I started it up with a temp of 38F this morning. The oil pressure gage was about 3/4ths over. I guess that is about 40lbs or something. I put my stuff on and then drive away and run easy for several miles. I have done this on every bike I have had and never had issues.

No offense, but if you don't let it warm up on the jiffy stand, what's your alternative? You got a wheel chock mounted outside on the driveway to sit her in upright or you want to rig-up while straddling the bike? Throw her on the side stand, get yourself ready and enjoy the ride without sweating the small stuff.

If this is how yours is,something is wrong.

Like someone else stated ,my cold oil pressure is also a lot higher than the hot pressure of 32.

Agree, just don't hurry give the motor a chance get a little heat into it while riding.Been idling mine on kickstand for 47 yrs,no way it will ever hurt motor unless they are down 3 qts of oil.
