I just returned home after 4 years in Az living 1 block off of RTE 66 and can tell you a few things to consider.First of cell phones do not work in many areas on 66,the road temp is hot (very hot) in fact at stop lights the heat feels like it is burning your legs not to mention pre mature engine wear.There are many areas that have big critters wondering around and if you are going to attempt this trip talk a buddy into going with you as he may have to go get help,parts,etc.Also try to do this before June or you will fry !

FWIW - They just repaved the section from Chenoa IL - Bloomington IL this last summer and now it's a really smooth ride. . . before that I avoided it with everything I owned. (Not sure if they did the section south of Bloomington or not.
