Question Leather or PVC material?

Allright... I am getting tired of riding with a backpack while on the commute... I am looking at some inexpensive throwover saddlebags for my sporty. I like the thought of leather but it seems to me that the cheapo PVC material might be a little more rugged...

Thoughts?

Maybe cheaper but I have never seen a good set of throw over bags in PVC / plastic that look good (at least as good as leather) A good set of thick leather will last you a lifetime.

Check out letherworks or fox creek. Their stuff is top of the line and the customer service can not be beat.

My wife and I learned many years ago it is better and cheaper to buy quality once then junk multiple times.

I always prefer leather. I'm re-covering everything on my Deluxe with leather this winter. My wife scuffed holes in the $750 saddlebags (twice) this season. That ain't gonna happen with leather!

You might find some canvas or nylon throw overs cheaper than leather and will fit and hold up better than PVC.

If you want it to last, you won't be happy with PVC.
I tried some with the PVC backing and it lasted about 2 years and then started cracking.
Go for leather.

Nothing wrong with textile. Got mine for $66 and they wotk fine. Harley riders tend to like leather. Ever noticed that? That said, leather is more durable and stylish. But you're looking for cheap. Sure beats not having any storage.

Almost forgot. Look into a tailbag. Easier on/off when you get to destination. The shape also holds more stuff.

Willie& max make cheap and durable bags (not leather) The good thing is no matainance and you can run in rain all day. All leather sucks in heavy rain........acts like a sponge
