It is all about the new breed of bike riders that seem to be in such a hurry to go nowhere. Sad it has to be that way but it is.I too stop for all that appear to be stranded even knowing they may have a cell phone.

I've been down twice on the side of the road, once under an overpass in a downpour and once when I ran out of gas. Both times cages and bikes stopped. One cage had a pretty girl in her 20s that said she rode HDs too. I have also always stopped for a bike on the side of the road. I guess what goes around comes around.

+1 -- I'm not much of a wrench so my skills won't help much in a breakdown. If there's indications of a crash or some other major problem I'll stop anyway; or if the riders give some sign help is needed (wave me down?).

day after i got my bike, battery terminal had wiggled loose and when i went to fill it up and came back it wouldnt start, sat there for about an hour NO ONE had a allen head to remove the seat. ( no one asked i had to ask) then about 10 harleys pull up. pull all around me and before i knew it, they had me on my bike pushing me to get it started. it did and i went down the road and turned back to leave and they saluted me when i went by and i waved and yelled thank you. showed me there is a real brotherhood in harley riding since then i have helped every bike in distress i have seen

I always stop when I see someone stranded, but the times I've been stuck, like 10 miles from Casper out of gas and pushing my bike down the shoulder sturgis week,I was amazed at the number of bikes and trailers with empty spots that went by me.Same thing here when I had trouble with my CKP sensor...both times, was someone young in a cage who finally stopped, who wasn't riding that day for whatever reason.Really gets me the ones that wave as they hit the throttle going by....

I was in the fast lane one day on the way to work and saw a bike and rider on the shoulder. By the time I got over to the shoulder I had gone a couple hundred yards. The shoulder was narrow and the freeway was soping gently downhill. It took me a while to get back to the guy and ask him if everything was OK (with him and his Victory). The fine young gentleman swore at me and told me to mind my own f'n business.

So I left him there, because I r a POS end of story. And I was late to work.

read some where...here on this forum I believe...tying a red rag...something on your handlebar will signal distress...am I correct on this assumtion? I carry one just the same...And as others here...slowing down / stopping and asking...hand signals...is the brotherly thing to do regardless...

there was an incident early 80's...evanston wyoming...biker in front dropped his bike at a red light...old school rider...I jumped to his aid...he bitched at me to never help a biker with his bike...especially when it was dropped like that...oooookkkkkaaaaayyyyy...and I turned back...I did see him get his bike up but he was 3 sheets to the wind...and it was a struggle for him...but...I still will ask...its the brotherly thing to do....

I will stop, even if they do not need my help I can offer them a bottle of water. Standing on the side of the road waiting for a buddy to come back be a long hot wait. I learned along time ago to carry extra. I had a shifter problem in 08 and no one slowed down or stopped. I wonder why most biker still waive to each other??? If you really do not cae about them why waive?
