Default Typical Annual Maintenance for a Hog?

Just wondering if anybody could tell me what I can expect to pay a year for maintenance not including all the extra goodies of course. I'm currently on deployment with the Navy and plan on getting a 2010 Softail Deluxe in March when we get back. As I understand it HD has an awesome warranty as long as you keep up with the scheduled maintenance.

This will be my first bike so I'm not exactly sure what maintenance is required for bikes. Any input will help.

If you do it yourself it's less than $100 for each 5,000 mile service. Tires last about 10,000 miles. So a lot depends on how many miles you ride in a year.

It's by Millage So the More you Ride the more it is.....
But you should be able to do it your self fur about 300 bucks a year
that would be like 10,000 miles a year
I just picked up all my stuff today at the dealer fur 80 Bucks for a 5,000 mile service I'll do at Home

Change the fluids yourself, keep your receipts and save a bundle. Buy the Service Manual and read it. Search this forum for answers to your questions. You will be fine.

New bikes have their first at 1000 miles. I had mine done todaya nd it cost $242.50. The next maintenance is at 5000 and every 5000 after that. I think the 10k series (10,20,30,40) are more than the 5k services. You can buy a prepaid service plan but it didn't interest me, When my warranty dies, I'll either do my own or possibly use an indy. Of course, if you want to keep it all HD, use the dealership.

Good luck and THANKS for your service

Bubba

I don't ride as much as some guys on this forum . .I'm probably 6500-7k per year. This was my first year on a harley in a LOOONNNNG time and I did the 5k maint myself (with factory service manual) It wasn't necessary but I swapped the primary and secondary at the time as the engine and used the expensive Mobil 1 V-Twin . .I think I paid $8.50 per quart and had 5 quarts so that's $42.50. A gasket kit for the derby cover was $9 I think and if memory serves I paid about $9 for a HD premium oil filter. My rear tire was pretty well gone at about 6400 miles and I just had it replaced for $220 and that was with the local indy doing all the work. So other than Fuel I guess I'm into my dyna for:

$42.50
$9
$9
$220

$280.50?

Have a good one,
Dave

If you don't mind my asking, why wait?
