Default Best HD camera to mount on Harley that does not produce wobbly video

I am organizing a road trip in 2010 and all of the bikes going will have a HD camera mounted to the bike, only I have been testing various models from GoPro / Contour and small portable cameras to top of the range hi end cameras, the biggest problem is vibration causing the well know "rolling shutter" issue, as all of the cameras have used CMOS chips,

has anyone through pure luck mounted a HD camera preferably small and cheap and had great stable results, and if so what make and model did you use and even better do you have any video you can post or direct me too.

As you can imagine with 8-10 riders this represent s a high investment and we dont want to wast a load of money with poor results.

Many thanks Steve

I'm in the market for something similar. To date, I have only used my little Canon SD in video mode. Stability is fine, just can't get much of a video on the 2 gig card.

I found Kodak has a new Zi8 that, according to the cnet review has "electronic image stabilization" - I don't know what rolling shutter is or if this new stabilization fixes that.

The cheapest and easiest way would be to mount it on your helmets , to avoid the vibration, but then the camera always follows your field of vision. The car camera guys will have something but it will be pricey.

I tried a GoPro & Kodak Zx1 & ContourHD mounted solidly on my handlebars but the wobble issue was a major one, to explain about the rolling shutter is quite involved but basically video footage is compiled of 30 frames or images a second but each frame is not captured at once the frame is stored a line by line to create the frame each 30th of a second but if the camera moves or the subject moves quickly the image stored has bent lines when they should be straight. see image.

Honestly this is your best option for price and performance.

I know and I hear ya, we may well have a few of these as well but the trip really needs static shots from a stable mount, actually the mounts are not the issue its the vibrations passed through the mounts to the cameras. If we could get a cheap small CCD HD camera there would be no problem. I will try many I was just hoping there would be some of you with a good experience with a specific camera with some footage in HD, still hoping,

Thanks everyone so far for your input.
