I could not disagree with the OP more. I, like many others started out on a dirt bike as a kid, and I've had them over the years....have one now, a KDX220! My many years of experience on the dirt, trails, woods, rocks, fire roads, mud, has given me quite a solid base to build on.

I will say that it is nice to actually SIT on a bike all day, rather than stand on the pegs balanced over the gas tank....

People should feel better about themselves by expanding their own knowledge and experience, not by trying to make others feel inferior.

Regardless of ride we all face the same hazards on the STREET. If a person's riding experience is limited to JUST riding off road then they have no experience on the street. Same goes for anyone that races; they have skill sure, but no experience.

"So.....you've been riding Sportsters for 10 years then?

Just kidding!

Some of those dirt bike guys can do things like click their heels behind their heads while sailing 30 feet in the air. Been riding a long time, and I can't do that on my bagger yet, but I'm working on it.

These two statements together pretty much sum it up. If I meet a rider and the first thing he does is start trying to compare dicks, I quickly and quiety move on.

I learned how to drive a car by starting with a manual transmission. That made it a lot easier to understand how to use a clutch making it a little easier to ride a motorcycle for the first time. Combining that with my skills on a bicycle made the change to motorcycles even easier. No ****, I've been riding since I was 2 years old then. I got you all beat. Every little bit of experience helps.

I pulled to a convienience store yesterday and had a guy ask me if I was an old rider.

I'm 67, cripes, talk about a dumb question.

There neebes, some never had harley to spend time on the road and they are just telling us what they've done or rode in their past.

When I was young the 305 Scrambler was the most popular bike in town. on and off road bike.
