Lets see you do this on your Harley!

Guess we are all posers now! I had an old 1942 "45" when I was in high school, but lived in the flat lands of Kansas. I did ride it in the snow a few times. Those guys were the real bikers. Just try some of that stuff with a foot clutch, side shift, and lousy brakes. They had special skills we will never know about.

What ***** they have! I saw these before but the 50s guys with the knuckleheads and pan heads were the original dirt bikers. All sorts of cool adventures, jumping, sliding, hill climbing, etc.

This goes to show ya how much the times and tecnology has changed. Yesterdays bikes were buily to withstand all kinds of use. No dirt bikes back then. Harleys were used in the wars. Got photos of my grandfather on his and my wifesgrand father on his during those times. I think WW1 because the bikes look to be VERY early models. I kinda wonder if I was around back then if I would do the same stuff. My dad told me a story about him and his buddy bought an old Harley when they were teenagers. Didnt know anything about them. He said they couldnt figure how to make it go and when they learned that part, they jumped on it and off they went. Didnt know how to make it stop and ended riding it right into the river. They fixed it up and learned. The rest is history. I asked how come you didnt ask your dad and he said that he needed to prove something back then. I guess thats how it went back then. Live and learn. Anyways , Nice pics. I'll bet many of you have the same types of storys and memories.

Over the years some road trips (road = loosely defined) have ended up with me doing some of those stunts. Not on purpose though. Last year, instead of backtracking 11 miles, I went across a stream about a foot deep that had washed the asphalt right off the road. What is surprising is that if you don't mind pulling weeds out of the floorboards, baggers will go just about anywhere, and buffalo are not impressed when you jump both wheels while trying to avoid one of them in the road.
One of my riding partners says that if there is a bad road somewhere, I will find it.
