Same here in California as many others...register the plates and zip on through. The cameras will pickup the plate number and charge the account appropriately. I don't even bother to carry the transponder.

Here in NJ I need to have my EZ-Pass mounted just to the right of the Speedo, using some little mess bag to secure it or it does not pick up right. When it does not pick up I get over charged.

The vehicle and tag have to match in your account though. If you don't register your motorcycle with the tag of your car, then you get charged $25 (unless they increased any penalties).
YEP! Register the bike plate with your car tag, then just leave it home. If they photograph your plate and run it, they will just charge your account. EZ Pass is now good all the way from Chicago to the east coast. Funny thing I've noticed, if I put my tour pak on, I never get charged, I don't think the camera picks up the plate. So, if you leave the transponder at home and let them bill you via traffic cam you might save a few bucks. As long as the plate is registered you're covered.

Wife and I keep ours in our leather windshield bags facing the same way they'd be if on the windshield. They work fine 99% of the time as long as you slow down enough. I've noticed sometimes I almost have to stop.

Before I realized it worked even through the leather I used to pull it out of my pocket and hold it up. Had a few near accidents that way so I'm glad I discovered it wasn't necessary.

Funny story... was up in Chicago couple years ago in my truck. I went through 1 booth gave em like 50 cents. As i re-entered the slab i noticed several cars differant plates were just blowing by. I didnt know they had a chip on theyre car! I thought it was a local thang? So i blew 2 going in and 3 coming back out. Got a letter about a month later $120 bux!

Just this summer was on a Sturgis ride w/ a couple other bikes,,, road captain just blowing through tolls....... I'm thinkin here we go again! Never got a letter this time.
