Bicyclists call them paniers. Panier is french for saddlebag... so technically motorcycle saddlebags can also be called paniers. Here in Madison we have a ton of bicycle paths & I'd say that a good 60% of bicyclists have paniers. I do for my bicycle.

Very common. I have a set very much like those for my Canondale. My wife and I did a 10 day trip on the bikes, covering 50-70 miles a day, through the New York Finger Lakes region. You can get all kinds of cool luggage for bicycles.

Actually, I went with this setup for my bycycle. The "free Radical" with the bags are great for short trips round town.
Plus, I tell peeps it's my 2nd Bagger!

You see saddle bags on bicycles throughout Europe front and rear ,that is on the bicycle front and rear not Europe front and rear although it could be Europe east and west but you get the idea...oh and trailers too and a sort of weird attachment trailer to haul a kid, now that you mention it a sort of strange bicycle that you lie down to ride and motorcycles not built by Harley Davidson..oh a strange place indeed

They are called paniers on motorcycles in Europe but on a Harley they are called saddle bags...I guess its the way it is and rightly so
