Default Any one built their own pipes?

So I been buildin a little shovelhead for awhile and its time for pipes. Problem is they don't make jack for these older scoots. I bought a build it kit from biltwell. It hasn't showed up yet, & never built a set before just need some tips. Thanx

Making a set of custom pipes is fun but you cant be in a hurry. you have to know what your plan is 3 steps past where your cutting & welding. try to stay clear of sharp bends where ever possible so you dont restrict your exhaust flow.
while your fabricating the exhaust, only tack weld them together. I use 3 spots 30 degrees apart around the pipe just to hold it.
As soon as the pipe comes down from the motor & begins to travel towards the rear you should weld on a clamp joint which will give you a shorter pipe to work with for easy installation. You might be able to leave the pipe as one long piece if you can fit it on the bike without smashing it on everything around you.
the pipe must be routed with mounting to the frame as part of your design so try to get it close in 2 spots. the first one near your foot peg area & the last one closer to the rear of the bike in the swing arm area where you can hide it a little.
Before your final welding, You should be able to install & un install your new pipes without alot of forcing.
As your mapping out your pipe design, remember where your boots & legs will be & how hot the pipes get!
Pic's when your done!!!
Hatch.
