imo the best boots are made by Chippewa. i like the 8 inch logger boots , they have Vibram lug soles that are really great for shedding rocks. They last forever and they are extremely comfortable. As far as gloves go I couldn't tell you, I have a pair that I got at Kohls that work real well. They aren't motorcycle specific but they keep my hands warm.

Best boots and gloves are the ones I own, if they're not mine they don't do me much good.

IMO I like logger boots for footpegs on my shovels because of the heel. My favorite brand is Red Wing, waterproof and insulated. I like a smooth sole on the RK with the boards, so I wear my work boots when I ride it, again, waterproof leather.

Gloves, depends on the weather. I have deerskin for a light summer glove, GoreTex for a light, summer rain glove and HD gauntlets for cold weather, haven't found anything better without going to heated gear.

I wear Red Wing as well... tho they do take a short while to break in, they last forever...I wouldn't go with a "Motorcycle" specific boot... way too much $$$ for what you pay for IMO. I just make sure that whichever boot I buy has good ankle support.

With gloves I like to go on the cheap... I misplace them so often that I buy a couple pair of 2XL $10 leather gloves from Target each fall & use them with soft garden gloves as liners...

Whichever fits YOUR feet well & don't hurt, that's the best boot you can own.

Seriously, the ones that fit best. No matter the quality, if they don't fit your particular feet or hands, the boots/gloves are no good.
