Thumbs up Make your own heated vest and glove inserts

I made my own heated vest and heated glove inserts and they work great. I even made the (actually used digital DC motor control circuit boards) temperature controls for them. I tested them last winter and spring on the kitchen counter for about 8 hours using a car battery and they worked great, everything is fully adjustable. I used them on my 06 Ultra last early spring and everything worked good. I bought a new 2010 Ultra two months ago and two weeks ago I took a trip to Texas and New Mexico. I rode from Charlotte NC to Dallas (iron Butted it) and everything worked great. Went to Clovis NM from Dallas and from Clovis to Big Bend National Park then to Houston and from Hoston to Charlotte (another iron butt). Never had a problem with anything and it cost way less than $100 for everything. Not bad for comfort.

Cool a little more, please?

Without pics and a detailed description... it's just bragging... not very useful.

Before you bomb me... I was smiling... but, still... just saying.

How about a list of the parts you used.
And before the folks down south start feeling left out (like they do on the storage threads) can you work on a cooling version for next summer?

I've done this as well. I can't go into great detail right now because I'm at work but just search in google "DIY heated clothing" and you'll get a ton of info.
Here's a site to start you off.

Yea now work on a cheap cooling system for us. Another month or so of hot weather and high humidity for us.

Seriously! I would like to see how you did it. I will check out the one on line, but would love to see how you did it.

It's actually pretty easy. The controller you'll need to know how to solder but the clothing is quite simple. Here's a list of parts I used
- the wire http://www.newark.com/belden/83043-0...ire/dp/02F5933
- clothing to put the wires in.
- connectors to connect the wires to the battery
- a switch
You'll have to decide how you want to attach the wires to your clothes. I used a thick needle bought from Walgreens and threaded it through the clothing. Then attach the thin teflon wire to the wires that will connect to the battery. That's it. Again search "DIY heated clothing" for more in depth explanations.
