Heated Gear..to have or have not!

as others have said, its a personal decision. For my wife and I it adds about 30% to our riding season. we live in the foothills of the Canadian Rocky mountains, so our season is short...roughly 4 months of "shirtsleeve" riding. Without heated gear we were pretty much stuck to that time frame; not enough.
We're both skinny, so we get cold easily, and although we have good riding gear, we would get uncomfortable pretty quickly. With heated jacket liners, we start riding as soon as the snow is gone in spring ( this year it was early April) and ride until it returns to stay ( the bikes are still not parked for the winter, and I'm riding tomorrow). Riding at near zero is comfortable, and as long as I can be warm and the roads are clear, I'll keep riding. I wouldn't be without it

It sounds like you are enjoying your riding experience and that's what counts. Do what makes you happy is what I say. Others may want a coffee maker and microwave oven, that's cool too, just have fun is all that matters.

On my FLHTC, the heated gear is basically not needed even down well below freezing temps. On my bikes without fairings though, the heated vest allows me to keep riding when I would have given up without it. For those who haven't tried one - it makes a HUGE difference in comfort level when the temps drop below 45 or so.

They sell the batterys for your heated gear your don't have to plug it into bike. You could wear it around the house never need to turn the heat on in your house.

If those people made you feel like you were cheap for not having heated gear,
sounds to me like there not worth riding with.
I own heated gear and try to ride all winter long. Could care less what anyone else is doing.
Maybe you need to find another group instead of those yuppies

I have been riding Harleys since the mid to late fifties sitting in front of my Daddy holding on to the gas tank caps. I have resisted electric clothing very much. I finally gave in about three winters ago and there is nothing and I mean nothing like having electric. If you ride when it is "cold" then try electric you will never go back. I have found that anyone can ride short distances 10 to 20 miles in the cold bundled up and arrive cold. I have also found you can ride long distances in the cold and be warm, toasty and downright hot with electric gear. I don’t ride Ultra, fairing type scooters just my ’05 Deuce with 67k miles in 4 ½ years.
