Default kick stand sux.

ok i know that everyone here says that hd kickstand are the best. but i hate them. i am used to my yamahas that the kick stand dosnt only go straight out it then is at a foward angle. (not a chance of the bike falling over. when i look at my bike on the kickstand it looks like if i just touch the bike it will roll foward and fall over. if i am parked and my bars are to the left and i straighten them out the bike will almost roll off the stand. i find my self kicking my kick stand to make sure it is all the way forward i just relly hate the design. when i am in the bar i have no peace of mind that someone will sneezz on my bike and it will fall over.

i guess my question is. is there a kit that moves the kicksand angel more foward insted of straight out. also do harleys not have a kick stand sensonr that kills the bike if you put it in gear and the stand is down. ????????? the other day i took of with my stand down and i was shocked. i thought all bikes killed if you put them in gear with the stand down.

Try pushing your Yammamamma around on the garage floor on the kickstand, you better be ready to pick it up, your Harley won't fold up and fall over. As for riding off with it down, well........

Ya, that's just something you're gonna have to get used to. If you look closely at the top of the kickstand with the weight of the bike on it, you should see that it is positively engaged in a notch in the mount. It will not fall over with the weight of the bike on it.-Mine actually tilts to the rear on my Fatboy!-Glenn

exactly. mine almost looks like it is not straight out but almost backwards. scarry. i wonder if i bend the stand foward a inch or two. that would proabbly work fine. but then with my luck it would snap and poof i have a scrached up bike.

Like the others said you are going to have to get used to it. I am still watch it when I park the bike. I think that they could have given it a little more forward lean.

Most harley owner are a little smarter than the average Yamyhama owner, thats why we don't need a kill switch on the jiffy stand....
Take U bike down to the Yammahammy dealer and have their kick stand put on. Then U'll be happier...
Good thing U got a newer HD. The older ones even started in Gear with the clutch out...
That made for fun sometimes....

Whats with the bill rolling off the stand?? do U put money or the the payment book on the stand then it almost rolls off??

I find that if I turn the bars to the left when on the stand, it sticks about straight out, bars to the right, it goes back a little.-Glenn

also do harleys not have a kick stand sensonr that kills the bike if you put it in gear and the stand is down.
The newer bikes have a clutch lever sensor that keeps it from starting in gear.
Ain't that enough?

Park it in gear. It takes some getting used to.
