Default Need Advice: Road King, or Heritage Softail

I am considering either a Road King Classic, or Heritage Softail Classic. Any advice? (I currently have a Yamaha V Star Silverado, looking to move up to a Harley) I'd appreciate any feedback on these two bikes, good or bad. Thanks

I vote the Heritage Softail Classic. But then again I'm biased.

They are both great bikes. Try renting both from a local dealer and see which one fits your riding preferences.

Heritage Classic but I'm biased too. What was said above...rent each one and give them a try. Harley Demo Rides well set you right up with a ride each. Good luck and enjoy.

Road King. Smoothier Ride, Vibrating Motor at Stop Lights, More Power without counterbalancers, and looks cool with fiberglass bags.

Test ride both bikes before making your decision. I selected the Heritage Softail American Classis for serveral reasons; 1) looks - lets face it, there is no better looking HD. 2) riding position (sit into the bike rather than on the bike) 3) versatility - FLSTC saddle bags are larger. Equipped with the tour pack, the bike will haul as much as an EG. With quick detach hardware, you can go from a touring bike to a cruiser in a manner of minutes. 4) TC88B motor - smooth as silk both at idle and 70 mph cruise. The Roadking TC88(A) looks like it wants to jump out of the frame at idle. I don't think the difference in power between the TC88A and TC88B would ever be noticed by the rider.

Lower seating height on the softail

Better ride on the Road King with the shock setup

The rubber mounted motor is smoother at highway speeds

Go to a dealer, and ride both.........then make your decision

The are both fine bikes, but the King is finer Hence the name

If you owned a V-Star then the Heritage would be very simular to it. So would most Softail models. I know cause I went from a V-Star to a Softail.

I'm biased toward the Heritage for obvious reasons. Depends on what you do more often, the King is probably a bit more comfortable off the shelf for tours, but the Heritage can be set up for long rides. Over all, I had to go with the Heritage.

They are both great looking bikes. I prefer the touring suspension over the Softail suspension. As long as your bike has whitewalls you can't go wrong.
