Need Advice: Road King, or Heritage Softail

RE: Need Advice: Road King, or Heritage Softail
Thanks for everyone's advice. Unfortunately I don't live too close to a Harley Rental Center, I live in Jacksonville, and the closest one is Orlando...but many of you did provide good advice on the differences between the two bikes, that's mostly what I was looking for. I understand the Road King is more a touring bike, but I've heard the Heritage Softail also has a smooth ride at higher speeds(Right now either would be a huge improvement from what I have now, a Yamaha V Star Silverado...>>not enough power at the higher speeds>>>

Cruise control, stanrd on the RKC.
Fuel injection, standard on the RKC.
Add either one to a Heritage and you've spent more money than you can buy a Road King Classic for. Engine guard is standard on the RK. Do a close comparison and then do the math.
They both have the 50's retro styling that I wanted but it was the RK that won me over. 20,200 miles later, it's still good.

I would go with the Road King Classic. But that's just because I like white wall tires and I don't care for the seat or saddle bags on the heritage. But that is just my preference.
Get what you like best. Of course if you want a side car get the Classic.

I was in the same situation a few months ago. Test rode a Road King and took a buddies Heritage out for the day. I chose the King for comfort of ride and more room. I felt kinda cramped on the Heritage. Of course I am on a Street Glide now but it is basically the same. Heritage is still a very nice bike. You can't go wrong with either.

Yo, Steve your going to have to maybe rent them both and see which one is right for you . Everybody here can say what they prefer, but in the end you have to make the choice ! Which ever it is good luck and ride safe . Steve from Az.

Went through the same thing a couple months ago. Used to own a Fatboy and before I started looking seriously to replace it, I really wanted a Road King Classic. I don't do much touring, much more 20-200 mile rides and lots of around town stuff. After riding both, the Heritage was a hands down winner for local cruising & mountain rides. If I was running the interstates for long distances a lot more I'd have gone with the Road King.
Heritage was more comfortable for me and the TC88B motor really smoothed out the softails. My old Fatboy was an EVO and it "tickled" a little after a few miles.
