Buell Not Dead?

Doesn't seem likely based on this quote from the MoCo:
"We chose not to sell Buell, and simply end production, simply because of the interdependencies that exist between Buell and Harley-Davidson. That is the decision we made, and that is not a reversible decision," said Harley-Davidson spokeswoman Pat Sweeney.

No offense, but I wouldn't put much stock in anything someone from the MOCO says. They are known for their inability to be transparent.

i hope thats the case.i dont know alot about buells but it always seemed to me that eric buell did more for buell than harley davidson did.with the backing of hd i always expected somthing more from buell but never really saw it.but maybe they tried their best who knows...just my observation

Harley has a lot to lose - they'd have to come to some arrangement regarding "intellectual property" (patents etc). I imagine that ALL the innovation that Buell came up with while it was owned outright by H-D belongs to H-D. The MoCo isn't going to just give that up - and Buell can't operate independently without it.

Furthermore - if H-D plans on leveraging the Harley brand name in their efforts to attract younger owners they'll need every ounce of Buell innovation they can get their hands on. Look for Harley branded bikes with Buell characteristics in the near future.
