Being seen by the other guy!

yrs ago they used to say black was the hardest color to see on a motorcycle.
white was supposed to be the easiest.
don't know if the surveys still say the same now or not.

do you ride with your spot lights on?
You should. A wider area of light is easier to see.
I look pretty good before pulling out in my truck but must admit I have had to hit the brakes quick sometimes after not seeing a bike headlight that was somehow lost in the oncoming traffic.

Yea! I had my spots on (always) doing 30 to 35 mph, and SOB says he didn't see me.
I going to see if I can get the spots wired to come on with the high beams.

Something else to consider, Before I started riding it always seemed to me that I could spot a motorcycle cop a mile away - something about the white helmet, just sticks out like a sore thumb. Was a big part of my decision in buying a what "cop-like" half helmet when I started to ride. So far so good but I know a lot of riders probably wouldn't be caught dead (hate to put it that way) wearing something like that. My full helmet is also white - what the hell it's all about seeing and being seen, right?

one more thought.
I see you don't have your engine guard on your bike any more. It's a good place to put lights.
I have a couple of 4" spots that I'm putting on my engine guard. I'm gonna light this sucker up like a christmas tree. Can't hurt.

The problem I have with the headlight modulator is it can accidentally signal someone into thinking it's OK to change lanes into you.
Might help slightly on visibility with one issue and yet make you more vulnerable on another. Not worth it IMHO.

Hey man sorry about your crash.. but more lights or bein more visible won't help. I ride with my passing lamps on and headlight and they still don't see me. Oh i forgot to mention i have 100 watt passing lamps ( not recommended for your charging system but when they do see you you can tell the color of their eyes ) People are to much into texting and cell calls to see a bike,

Wearing a light colored jacket or t-shirt and a white helmet helps. I have 3 riding jackets and wear a helmet. They are all black. When I have to buy new stuff it will probably be a lighter color.
The best light pattern is a triangular one, that is formed by mounting lights on your engine guard and running your headlight on bright, during the day light.
