Leather jackest with cooling vest, anyone?
Hi all,
Riding out into AZ in a couple of weeks and will try to do most of the riding in the early mornings, but may have to do some hard sun.
Ordered a mesh jacket ... hated it. Looked at a few more and they all are bit too 'sport bike' for my taste.
Having said that, I am still not willing to for go portection.
I have a vented leather jacket now and would just like to ride with that, but was thinking of putting a cooling vest on underneath.
has anyone tried this approach? Any success?
thanks

Not quite.
I got myself a lightweight perforated leather jacket. Put the armor from the FXRG in it. Works pretty good as long as I'm moving. On cool mornings I wear a vest under it or when still cooler I wear a wind jacket under it as well. The wind jacket is from Mountain equipment Co-op.

I live in Tucson and yes, it gets hot. In the summer, on trips, I wear a mesh jacket with armor. Around town for day rides I take my chances and wear a long sleeve T shirt with a leather vest. Sometimes I will even take the vest off and put it in one of my bags. Not the smartest I know. Likewise I wear a half helmet around town. I wear the full face on trips. There's a little risk in everything we do!!

I wear the black kool-vest from Silver Eagle Outfitters. Its not as much protection as a leather jacket but it does afford some protection and works well.

I wear a cool vest here, but I don't think it will work well with a jacket on top of it. It works via evaporation meaning ya soak it in cool water (cold if you can find it) before putting it on.
Yes you get a little wet, but you'll be dry after a bit and then its time to soak it down again.

Just bought a Mesh jacket with armour. Yes, its a little sporty looking, but wife added a nice set of harley wings over the back logo, and now it looks much better. Very light, wind goes right thru the mess, and came with a liner for those cool mornings. Rode 340 miles on Friday in 85 degree weather and never once bothered me. Very comfortable.
