Riding in the rain
#71
I honestly don't see the fuss about riding in the rain. I wear a weather proof wind breaker and my chaps. I figured out along time ago that we were all born water proof so what the hell. Saves on shower time. Hail on the other hand hurts a little, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Last year, I rode from Los Angeles to Monterey... half of that trip up was in rain. Didn't mind it, had a good rain suit that kept me dry, had to take the twisties along the coast slower though, and as has been mentioned, cleaning the bike after a ride in the rain really sucks.
Before that, rode from Central California to Grand Canyon, Vegas and back over a week's time; we got some rain along the way during that one, and several other shorter rides in the rain.
I don't purposely ride if it's already raining, but if I had already planned on riding and it's threatening and not raining at the time, I'll go even if I know I will probably get caught in it later.
Just have to very careful with painted lines, railroad tracks, manhole covers, tar snakes, etc.

Young, dumb, (you know the rest) really looked cool riding with no helmet and no front fender in the rain. Fast forward forty years, big fat front fenders, hard lowers, batwing fairing, fork mounted air deflectors, heated grips. Fat, not as dumb, but dry riding in rain.
