Default Are non-CA bikes worth less in trade in CA?

Just moved from NC with my Sporties. Happened across local dealer who has really nice looking RK Custom that said it wanted to come home with me. Curious if my NC bike will bring in less in trade in California then it would in another state. Does the lack of CA emissions equipment bring down the trade value?

I would imagine to most people the lack of that crap would increase the value....

It shouldn't....as long as they are registerable in CA (have 7500 miles or more) I don't think anyone will care..
I think the CA emissions stuff is $500 for a new bike so that might be the worst of it...

I would go with rap87 on the "lack of crap" thing but that would be to a private party. You could probably sell it out right within a couple of weeks(at a resonable price), give the drealer a down payment to hold your bike and try that for a couple of weeks if no luck then trade it.

Thanks. Could give private sale a whirl and put a down payment on the dealer bike like you said. Biggest hurdle might be mileage. I only have about 5000 miles logged so CA registration is out for now. But given the area I think that will double in no time. Just really like this RK. Custom paint, studded bags, etc....felt real good sitting on it, etc.

The simpler I could make this process the better. The beautiful wife's support for trading my bike for another is inversely proportional to how simple the process is.

I don't think you could trade it in with only 5k on it...The dealer I talked too said she has heard of people having to take the bikes back out of state to get rid of them.....need to get out and ride!!!!
