hook a drill to the speedometer and turn it over till it hits above 7500, hey they said you cant "drive" it to reach beyond 7500 LOL in the case of a elec speedo it uses a magnetic pick up to collect the revulution copunt so just hook a magnet to one side of the drill

A few good road trips will solve the problem every time.

Can't you just have the previous owner write the mileage as 7600 miles when they sign the title over? Does the state actually check the vehicle?

No, you CANNOT 'down' grade your bike to meet Cali standards---- it must be factory certified for CA, and the appropriate manufacturer sticker attached to the bike--

No one can 'import' a bike into CA with less than 7500 miles on it- and if DMV discovers that you messed with the odometer, you will be denied registration in CA AND the bike will be 'black-balled' meaning that it can never be registered in CA.

My brother is a car dealer and made a big mistake bringing a nearly new $80000 S-Class Mercedes into the state from Texas with 2000 miles--- not only did he lose the sale to the CA buyer, but had to take a loss when he had to basically sell it back to the Texas seller---

I spoke directly to the CA C.A.R.B. unit for my info as I wanted to bring in my dream-bike 2009 2-tone rootbeer Street Glide from Chicago-- really pisses me off!

What you 'might' be able to do is to have your (very cooperative) seller register the bike in CA as if he had moved here.... then buy it and register it. Can't guarantee that there isn't a 'gotcha' in that plan either...

I had heard that Harley was supposed to be making 50 state bikes, but can't seem to confirm that---

Does anyone know why the mileage is 7500? Did some law maker just throw an arbitrary number out there?
It is inspected.

If you have purchased a new bike in California it is a 50 state bike.

the easiest way to deal with meeting california emissions is to move out of that socialist paradise!

not sure whether this helps or not, but i found this executive order from air resources board of ca - that exempts several 2009 harley models from the smog rules... IF they do not have certain VIN components-
check this out and see if it helps:

It is the charcoal canister on the bike for the tank overflow. Just took one off a friends 03 Wide Glide.
