I think you nailed it Bikes, since Harleys have become more mainstream with the affluent folks, the Leo's (not sure I understand the nickname) are less likely to ticket because of the local revenue brought in by the riders. Another thing to think about is how many cops ride Harleys. The cops make a good chunk of side money doing off duty work such as funeral escorts. Many of them own and ride Harleys and understand our little need for noise. Most cops are just big kids like us and they will let little things slide as long as you dont push them beyond their level of good humor. I can tell you first hand though some of them are j#cka$$e$ no matter what you do. If you get pulled over, and a cop gets out of the car that is shorter than 5 foot 6, it is pretty safe bet you are getting a ticket, or worse. The wife works at the local PD, and has worked in law enforcement for years, and most of the cops I meet through her are more interested in the bikes than the tickets.

 

Most cops have a sense of priority and choose to focus on more important things. A select few do not and they're the ones you have to watch out for.

 

Around here they seem to be more interested in the crotch rockets that have screamer exhausts and run way over the speed limits.
