It doesn't matter what brand of oil was used originally you can add to it. Even synthetic and regular oil can be mixed, they are compatible.

Just drop by your harley dealer, pick up the proper oil for your bike and go ahead and top it off. They'll probably even do it for you. Actually, I'm pretty sure they'll do it, they're pretty accomodating most of the time.

If you need some help give me a shout and I'll pop over and help you out. We're neighbors afterall, I'm a Canadian.

Lisa: You can top it off with any 20w50 motorcycle oil like HD360 or SYn3 or Mobil1Vtwin. Won't hurt a thing. Synthetics & mineral based oils are all compatible. No need to change for 5000 miles or 1 year.

We don't mix oil's So I would not recommend doing it. Oh hell, if your on a multi state trip and you need to add oil, you can get by with either. But it's a quick fix....

Good question, yes it was 2009.(early July) I probabably don't have it done often enough because that was the first time I'd had it changed. I don't do a lot of miles except in the summer. I appreciate the feedback, I'll just have it changed again and ask them what they used.

Thanks neighbor. I'll try the dealership first.

I agree on mixing synthetic and dino. If you stop and think about it, we do this evey time we change from one to the other when changing oil. There is probably at least a half quart left in the engine after it has been drained. I have even thought of mixing half and half. The best of both worlds.

Maintenance is based on experience, needs and funds plus many others. The best way to learn is thru trial and error....There will always be 1,000 answers to one question when it comes to oil...Find what works for you and stick with it!
