why wear chaps?

Well, I've been riding for 45 years, in all parts of North America, and that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Seems to me the only people who would be worried about "what looks gay" are people who are concerned about their sexual identify. I mean, seriously, who cares?
I had my first chaps custom made at a small shop in South Boston many years ago. Very cute girl measured me for them (oh, that was such a gay experience, now that I think about it!). Had them for years and wore them all over the damn place. Eventually, they shrunk. Funny thing about that.
Recently bought a new pair, for $70, from Dennis Kirk. Love 'em. Keep my legs warm in winter, and I just zip 'em off in between the parking lot and my office. Piece of cake.
Gosh, I wonder if anything else I do "looks gay". I'm sure I'll lay awake all night worrying about that!
Edit: I forgot to mention, that small shop in South Boston was called Vanson Leathers. I hear they've done ok in the ensuing years.... I bet they're all gay, tho.

You better not spend your money on chaps or leather pants. You have to save it for the HD clothes you wear to make you a Real biker.

To be honest with you, I really don't give a **** if someone likes the way I look or not, and from my experience, people who have no problem with their own sexuality normally don't worry about whether or not they look gay lol.

That's what I'm talking about!! They look great on a female body. But why would a dude want to wear that outfit I will never understand. Unless he's gay, then I get it.

I think you are repressing something, you seem rather obsessed. Just an fyi to save you a little embarrassment, not everyone that wears chaps is gay so be careful.
