Hmmm...it's been above 90 every day last week here in south Ga. Air humid enough to swim in too! I know I'm the minority here, but I LOVE riding in cold weather. 6* is pushing it though. You had big ***** to go out riding in that type of cold...I'm sure they shrunk down to a "man-gina" by the time you got home, lol.

 

Jeez, I don't even know what 6* feels like.

Dam you must have to clean off the Icicles in the morning. I guess i will stop complaining that its 35 degrees.

 

Wasn't 6 deg, but 26 is what I rode in this morning.
Curious how long your commute was.
Mine is 64 miles and yes I have heated gear, finally broke out the heated pants.
Switched to the 3/4 helmet, thought about the full.

 

I commuted from Livingston this morning, which is 22 miles away. Livingston is always super windy--don't know what the wind speed was this a.m. Had to go over Bozeman Pass. But once I came off the pass, the Gallatin Valley seemed balmy (lower elevation, no more shadows, and less wind). But if I had to go another 20 miles, I would have gotten pretty cold, I'm sure.

I was fine with what I had on; I don't own electric/heated riding clothes.

When it gets real cold, I will ride in my ski stuff. It's designed to keep you warm and dry in extreme cold and at extreme speed, and it does. I wear that stuff on the bike every winter. It works for me. (I'm making a PVC ski carrier for my KLR, so I can just ride to the ski hill.)

Another morning like this, and I will break out the ski stuff for sure. I didn't have my neck gaiter, and my neck got damn cold.

But the bike was fine!

 

Way to go Faber, I love the crisp air first thing in the morning, it does wake you up pretty good. Don't know if I would ride if it was 6 out. It was 36 here when I left for work this morning. I usually dont put on the heated gear unless the temps in the 20s or I'm out for a day long ride.

 

My idea of a "crisp" morning ride is 60 degrees. You are one tough guy to ride in 6 degrees weather!!

 

You the man! I rode a couple weeks ago, started out at 24 degrees. Only thing that got me was my fingertips! i did not put in my jacket liner but worke my chaps over you jeans and I don't know how a Deere survives cause that deere skin gloves wern't quite enough! I was going to ride this morning until i noticed that I had Ice on the windshield of my truck! Be safe my friend...Be Safe!
