Gowanda Harley Davidson
My searches about this dealer has come up with references to this dealer doing business out of a barn. I'm picking up my first Harley from them on Saturday, and I'm just wondering if anyone has any information about them, good or bad.
Thanks much!

Well, i didn't read into the post about the barn as a negative thing. So far, they've been responsive enough for me to be comfortable with the purchase. I was just askin to see if others here on the forum had ever dropped by and what their experiences were.

Have only been there once and was very impressed with the dealership, it sits on the outskirts of town and reminds you of a country store from the out side, but very impressive on the inside. You will like it when you get there.

Their website says they've been doing motorcycle sales and service since 1947. I imagine they probably started doing business in a barn. They even show an old B&W photo of a barn.
I did a little more reading and apparently I'm right. Also from their website:
It all dates back to 1947, when the late John S. Reid rode his 1935VL from Gowanda, NY to the Harley-Davidson Motor Company in Milwaukee, WI to sign his authorized dealership papers and create a legend in his hometown. Upon his return, a new sign appeared outside the small barn located behind the family house. It read, "Gowanda Harley-Davidson Sales. John Reid Dealer."

Great Dealer...friends of my family, small town actually a very cool log cabin for a shop, family owned and very helpful people!!!!!!!!! You should have a great experience....they also do a pretty big fundraiser in early June called the Harley Happenings at the Hollywood(theater).
My Uncle owned a mens store in downtown Gowanda forever.......it is like going back in time reminds me of Mayberry.
Also great fishing on the Catarawgus river, and it is right off of the Seneca Nation Indian Reservation!

Edit: btw...it seems to me I read somewhere, maybe your homepage, where you already had a bike from there and raved about their service. I may be wrong, but it's all good.

I agree, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Gowanda HD is still owned and run by the Reid family and most of their employees are family. I might be a little biased, as I'm related by marriage, but you should have an excellent experience there.
Hey *****, what was the store your uncle owned?? I grew up in a neighboring town and I laughed at your phrasing of "downtown Gowanda", because for us, that was downtown, it's where we went to shop, school, church. I still live only about 20 miles from there.

I live a few miles down the road from Gowanda HD. They have a very good facility with a beautiful log building and all the latest equipment (dyno etc.) Family owned and operated with factory trained mechanics. They are nice people to deal with and NO I'm not related in any way to them so my evaluation of them is strictly from a customer standpoint....................BG
