Default SEII Slipon Install question

Hi All,

If someone could be so kind as to give me some guidance I would appreciate it.

I purchased a set of new SEII mufflers for my Street Bob and the instructions state to use a rivet to hold the muffler to the header. The diagram shows it going under the muffler clamp.

Is it really necessary to use this rivet or can I just use the muffler clamp?

For people who have installed slipons, have you put a rivet in?

Thanks
Dave

Not necessary. The clamp will hold the mufflers on just fine.

did U get a new set of clamps... after used once they stretch.. and if used the second time they sometimes won't tighten down enough....If not, and they don't, U can use a cooper high temp sealer Hardware store, instead between the new muff and the header pipe.

never used any rivet on mine, seems like that would promote a leak, which U dont want..

BTY; hope U know those pipe are barely louder than stock....If Ur wanting some noise, U may (probably) not like them.

Thanks everyone for all the replies. I figured I probably did not need it but just thought I would check anyway. It seemed weird to me but it clearly lists a rivet as part of the kit in the instructions although there is not one in the box. But that is not a big surprise as who knows where this box has been sitting for the last few years.

Also yes it clearly states to make sure to use new clamps which I will be picking up tomorrow before I start the install.

As for loudness I thought as these were the SE II's and the not the street performance ones these were pretty decent, at least that is what I thought I had read in a few comments on here. Oh well I guess I will find out tomorrow afternoon if I like the sound or not. I can always change the baffles easily enough if I need to.

Cheers
David

My SEIIs really bark. Its not exactly the tone I was looking for but its all the $ I had to spend. They are pretty good and almost too loud for me.
