I'm pretty average in height and inseam I guess so it has never been an issue for me. But, I frequently pass guys that have their feet up onthe forwards and the knees are locked so they can reach. that can't be comfortable. At least it doesnt look comfortable. Why put them on just to look cool if it uncomfortable or unable to be used?

The lindybar idea sounds like the real winner in all the sugestions.

 

Depending on how wide the bracket is, you might be able to drill another hole for the top mounting bolt to pivot it back towards you. You just might have to fab a solution.

 

That would be my concern!
