Default Chrome plating parts

I recently purchased a chrome inner primary on ebay. The gasket surface was chromed also. How common is this? Can this be expected from Kuryakyn or Custom Chrome? Can chrome be removed from the gasket surface and still leave the rest in tact? Thanks for any info.

Chrome on the gasket surface shouldn't pose a problem.....my Harley Chrome plated stuff is on the gasket surfaces as well.

I don't think that should be a problem. (unless the bolt hole's ain't lining up!)

Leave it on there, if you remove it, it will start to corrode around the edges after a while. It will seal just fine, my outer has chrome on the gasket surface, no leaks.

Not a problem at all if the part is made right it should seal just fine(with a gasket of course). It is almost imppossible to chrome something and not chrome the gasket face, if there is no chrome on there it was machined off and that in itself can cause problems.
