Cheap Tires....Freakin economy

Many guys won't run a plugged tire, maybe you could find a slightly used tire with a hole in it cheap.
Get whatever tire you want, the real savings is found by removal/installation yourself. If they only last 5k miles it wouldn't take long to justify tools to mount and balance it yourself as well.

The other part about getting tires online is going to be getting them mounted and balanced. I know you can do them yourself with a couple of real tire irons but I still like tires to be balanced, plus you'll need more air pressure than the gas stations supply to seat the tires unless you run tubes and we don't all have the proper equiptment to do them at home. Bottom line for me was that the last set I bought still cost me one hour labor ($85 at local H-D dealer). Several independant stores wouldn't do them because I didn't buy my tires from them, another independant got scared when I carried my wheels in (after telling me on the phone they would do the job)...
When it's all said and done, just make sure that you look at the total cost of the tires installed on your bike.

I've got 12,000 on my rear stock Dunlop, and it's still good. Of course I don't do cool burnouts and panic stops constantly. if you can afford new tires every 5000 miles, good on you.
